Crown & Collar Institute recognition is based on documentation, transparency, review, and alignment with platinum-level standards.
The scoring rubric helps organize how breeders, dogs, litters, pairings, programs, and special recognition tracks may be reviewed. Final recognition is not based on appearance alone, membership status, popularity, or a single document.
We’re not for everyone. That’s intentional.
Recognition Is Reviewed, Not Purchased
Crown & Collar Institute recognition is not automatic. Membership, founding access, application submission, registry participation, or interest in an award does not guarantee recognition.
Awards and titles are granted through Crown & Collar Institute review of documentation, health practices, genetics, breeder transparency, development, temperament, stewardship, and alignment with the applicable recognition pathway.

Scoring Is Guidance, Not a Guarantee
The Crown & Collar Institute rubric is designed to guide review and documentation. It does not create automatic approval.
Recognition may be granted, declined, deferred, provisionally noted, or returned for additional documentation based on the quality, accuracy, completeness, and relevance of the submitted records.
Important Limitations
Crown & Collar Institute recognition does not guarantee health, temperament, fertility, structure, working ability, therapy-dog suitability, service-dog suitability, facility-dog suitability, emotional-support suitability, public-access rights, legal status, registry acceptance, veterinary certification, government approval, or long-term outcomes.
Recognition is a Crown & Collar Institute documentation-based designation issued through Crown & Collar Institute review standards.
